The Fucking Absurdity Of It All

I’ve said before that I believe America is in decline, as all empires eventually decline. It’s a shared failure. Every civilization has it’s unique challenges to overcome as a civilization. They must overcome them as a planet or they will perish by destroying themselves. It always happens.

In 1945, it was on the shoulders of the United States to lead the planet in the next innovation. To continue building on what we discovered that changed the course of history: nuclear power. That was civilization's next step.

Every civilization has it challenges to overcome as a civilization. They must overcome them as a planet or they will perish by destroying themselves. It always happens. As the world power after 1945, it was on our shoulders to lead the planet in the next innovation. To continue building on what we discovered that changed the course of history: nuclear power. That was civilization's next step. The greatest power the planet had ever known. Unlimited power. The literal power of a newborn star.

There is a finite amount of time to capitalize on innovation and continue to surge forward toward progress in unity before chaos and collapse occur. I think that's where we dropped the ball. Nuclear power changed the world. It could've brought power to the entire planet. Civilization to the entire planet. On a scale of civilization's evolution (kardashev scale), learning to manipulate the power of the energy on its planet and then the power of the star it rotates around is the qualifying factor in that civilization’s progress and advancement. Steam, Wind, Hydroelectric, and fossil fuels are the lowest form of power generation. Nuclear fusion and fission and solar is next-level- dealing with the power of the star we rotate around. And it’s here we are stuck. Arguing over- NOT whether to take the step- but HOW to take the step. America is gridlocked over opinions and feelings about who is right and who is wrong. Right versus Left versus Green. We, the United States, as a nation, lack the moral resolve to solve these problems. We are blinded by them and consumed by them. And because of this, we are failing, and we will fail as a nation. Just like the Soviet Union. Just like Nazi Germany before them.

The Soviets didn’t lack moral resolve, they lacked economic ability. They could not muster the scientific talent, as a nation, to innovate past the US. And their leaders were corrupt.

Nazi Germany also did not lack moral resolve. They lacked sane leadership, as Hitler spiraled into nihilism, narcissism, and madness. What’s more, the Nazi Party operated a quasi-two system government, where the actual population of Germany was pretty well insulated from what went on in its government and beyond. The facism of Nazi Germany that drove Hitler’s ascent was not very different from the tea party/MAGA wave that powered the Trump train. Twice. And we are witnessing the birth of the same model of two-system government here in America.

The United States, in its turn, lacks moral resolve. Pure and simple. We can’t fucking get along. One side wants to do too much and the other side resists everything no matter what. An unmoveable object and an unstoppable force.

I believe every president since Ronald Reagan has tried to turn the tide. To right the ship. By this time, the population was overtaxed, overburdened, disillusioned, and restless. Boomers had never had to fight for anything but money. Safe within secure borders. No natural predators. A hyperactive legal system and healthcare system to take care of them. Education to coddle their every childhood dream. White Power, Black Power, Pussy Power, Poor People’s Power, Everybody has power and no one can take it from them. Everyone wins, no one loses. This is Mouse Utopia. Boomers are the first American generation to grow up without any real adversity. And the entire generation became the most selfish and excessive generation in the planet’s known history. You can research the facts of this. Boomers accumulated more wealth than any previous generation imagined. And as a nation, Boomers squandered it. And protested everything and everybody the whole way down.  Not only that, there aren’t enough people in subsequent generations who have a job to pay the debt created by the Boomer generation. So here we are. Just like Mouse Utopia.

Reagan promised to make America great again. Lowered regulation and taxes. Shot defense through the roof, gave us Grenada and Star Wars to excite the imagination and to prop up the economy. Come on, guys, The Gipper says we aren’t losers anymore. And Bruce Springstein gave us an anthem.

HW Bush promised no new taxes to pay for our debt. That was a lofty dream. And gave us Desert Storm to prop up the economy. A million points of light. For a kinder, gentler machine gun hand.

Clinton didn’t give a fuck…Clinton came out and said it. "It's the economy, Stupid." He tried to CUT entitlements, lower taxes, balance the budget, close the borders, and urge more workers (value) into the economy. Yes, Kids, a real-life, actual Democrat did those things. And did them quite well. Clinton did ALL of the things the radical Left now endlessly protests against. And he gave us numerous wars to prop up the economy in the process.

W promised to carry on the "compassionate conservatism" that was really Clinton's schtick. Clinton had lots of schticks. But then 9-11. Then it got real. We began to see the existential nature of the threats we still face. Those threats poked their heads right through our TV screens.  Power became desperate. Bush/Cheney behaved very much like people in a Wal Mart right before a hurricane makes landfall. And they gave us the Patriot Act as a result. And endless, brutal wars to prop up the economy. Generations raised on war. Knowing nothing but. Many of our veterans rotate home with PTSD into law enforcement jobs for which they are ill prepared and overtrained.

Obama said “It’s time for a change. And don’t LOSE HOPE….say it with me….YES WE CAN.” Obama shifted focus and tried to prop up the economy by helping those left behind here at home. I believe Obama was a true believer. A sincere hearted man. And naive as a motherfucker. He tried to solve our problems by taking from those who have more and giving to those who had less. It was his take- the Left’s take- on the foreign wars bit that the right pushes. Obama said let’s try it this way. Maybe this will work. He tried to end the wars that were propping up the economy, hoping that democratic socialism would work in the long term. But he had to surge the wars forward before he could end them. WTF. He tried. But it was never going to work because it hasn’t worked at any other time in history.

Then comes Trump. All Americans, even Obama himself, knew the math of what his administration did, was NOT sustainable. We all knew it. We all still do. But we juuuuussttt weren’t quite ready to let go of the idea of free shit. Trump tried the first time. We didn’t let him. We were too worried about the man…and why the fuck is he orange? Less worried or ill informed about the real dangers and how close we were to them. And so the message of Make America Great Again became a battle cry, sort of like Remember the Alamo. Remember Pearl Harbor. The MAGA monster didn’t create the chaos. It was born in it.

Biden then completely shit the bed on everything. Where previous presidents at least tried to hold in our national diarrhea, Biden sat down, raised both feet, held his knees, and pushed till he was red in the face. I loved the man, but goddam, Joe. Our nation was emptied of more value than ever before in the previous century. Disastrous withdrawals from wars, boosted entitlements, violent shutdown of energy production, lost contracts overseas, a COMPLETE focus on forms of energy that would never be able to work, a hyperfocus on social issues at the expense of all else. Biden pushed the pendulum as far up and back as he fucking could at the behedst of his radical base. And then Trump rode it back in like a wrecking ball in 2024.

Trump, I believe, is holding the final ticket. The ballistic trajectory the US has been on since 1945 is reaching its terminal phase. Whether we collapse under his run or he seizes power and never leaves, this is going down on Trump’s watch.  Whether or not he is a dictator, the role of saving our American lives- individually- is his now. As said D’Artagnon to the King, “If you are to be a king, then be a good king.” We are past the idea of saving our nation. It is now about saving our people when the nation falls. Truth. The idea of "put the goddam oxygen mask on America first before she suffocates" isn't a bad one in any scenario but ones drawn by the Left. So here we are. The rest is really irrelevant.

If we DON"T have respect for rules and law and order, realistic economics, and bring value and treasure into the American economy at all costs, if we don't stop fixating on social equality, social equity, and social resistance, then we are all dead. In a very literal sense. And the roots of it all have zero to do with politicians, parties, presidents or projects. It's economic. It’s the economy, Stupid. Thanks, Schtick Willie.

America IS collapsing. It is an inevitable occurrence. We are NOT collapsing because of one party or another. We are collapsing because WE failed, as a NATION, as a PEOPLE, as a SOCIETY, to push past the weaponization of our greatest discovery to the beauty and potential and meaning it has for the planet. Stars are made to shine, not vaporize billions of lives in a split-second, orgasmic flash of human brilliance. But it seems that is where the human race, under nearly a century of leadership by the United States of America, is. In the decades since the Trinity shot, and, more pointedly, the Ivy Mike shot…since a group of American-paid scientists harnessed the power of a star, we have really only managed to not kill ourselves with it.

The millions of loudmouthed activists in this country- "anti-fascists" on the left that are actually fascists AND the white nationalists on the right that are also fascists- would do well to work together to find real solutions to technology and economics instead of bitching about who is at fault and how badly the other side has fucked and will continue to fuck the rest of us. No one will be able to be fascist if there’s no country left. The Left is delusional that their ideas will work. The Right no longer fucking cares and is splitting frog hairs with chainsaws in an attempt to restore some semblance of order and direction. And both sides still keep fighting.

Someone has to take charge. Someone has to do it. Not that it really matters at this point. But one never knows. And chances are, none of what can and will be done will change or alter our trajectory at all. At the end of the day, to watch this happen is so insanely tragic. Left and Right, Democrat and Republican, Liberal and Conservative….doesn’t matter what you call them.

The absurdity of the fight between left and right is the real tragedy and spectacle. It’s embarrassing, frankly. It’s absurd because we’re on the same team. When the ship goes down, we all drown. It’s even more absurd because there is absolutely nothing stopping either side from shutting the fuck up. It takes 2 to argue, children. Crisscross applesauce until we learn our lesson. But wait, it’s more absurd still, because the failure wasn’t Democrat or Republican. The failure was generational (OK, Boomer?) and, from there, became societal (GenX, we didn’t change it). In short, America, we destroyed ourselves.
